Presently, the GroovyDisk project is in Beta development and we're looking for some Music Artists to help give us some feedback so that we can iron out the bumps before the game goes Live in a couple of weeks time.  We have already installed a new module on Musical1 that will allow artists to make GroovyDisks in their Musical1 Control Panel which can be submitted into the game.

We are looking to Music Artists to give us feedback on the Compilation and Submission process of GroovyDisks, which is all done from inside your Musical1 Control Panel.

To make a GroovyDisk, Artists should choose 3 tracks (A-Side, B-Side, and Bonus track) and a cover image.  Liner Notes can also be added to the GroovyDisk outlining tracks information, lyrics etc.

Any Musical1.com Artist interested in helping out with this project should contact me via our contact page (you will find a link at the foot of our site pages) and I'll get back to you asap.

The goal in the GroovyDisk game is to rise in levels and ranks (i.e. "Groupie", "A&R Rep", etc.) to become top at recognizing new, good music. This is done by listening to and rating songs that are part of a "GroovyDisk", which is a virtual 45RPM (coloured vinyl) record by a Musical1.com Artist or Band. New GroovyDisks are only available for 24 hours, after which point they "sell out" and must be purchased via an "offer" to a user that already owns it. Game Users are then ranked on:

- how close their rating of the tracks in the single get to the community consensus rating
- how fast they purchase the GroovyDisk (buy earlier gets you more points)
- how "collectible" the disk they own are (i.e. a "hot" GroovyDisk earns you more points) Purchases in game are done using a virtual currency, which the players earn by listening to tracks, rating tracks, and buying and selling GroovyDisks. Users use their virtual currency to upgrade their "Audio Rack", which in turn enables them to rate tracks faster (new users must listen to at least 60 seconds of a track before being able to rate it, and both A-side and B-side tracks must be rated before the GroovyDisk can be purchased).

The new MySpace module has now been added to the member control panel and will allow members to import gigs/events that are listed on their MySpace page.  All you need to do is to enter your 'friendly' Myspace name, and any gigs found there are then displayed in your Musical1 control panel.  Users can edit these imported gigs as normal to include any extra information and an image, if required.

The other new feature will allow members to add their gig/event details to the Gigmemories Global Gig and Event Archive at www.gigmemories.com GigMemories Archive is free to contribute to and, by adding your events to the archive via your Musical1 control panel you will drive more visitors to your Musical1 Website and help push your website up the search engine listings, e.g. Google, Yahoo etc.

This latest minor system upgrade (version 4.0.14) will be the last in the 4.0 series.  We will soon be upgrading our demo site at http://demo.musical1.com with the first test-developement version of version 4.1.0 and all members are welcome to participate in the testing and developement feedback.

The Musical1 System Upgrade which has been delayed for the last couple of months, is now scheduled to go ahead this weekend.

Between Midnight on Saturday 9th May and Noon on Sunday 10th May, the technical team will be performing the System Upgrade to Version 4 of our software and at some time during the scheduled maintenance they may put the Musical1 Website into 'Maintenance Mode'.  Only System Administrators will be able to log in to Musical1 while 'Maintenance Mode' is in effect.  Artist and Members will not be able to log in during this time, sorry.

This new module will allow Artists to easily create regular events with a single click - a lot quicker than repeatedly entering the same data for every date of their residency or regular DJ slot.  All event information including image, vault and ticket details is copied and only the event date is changed, according to a 'rule' selected on the master/parent event (daily, weekly, monthly, first Saturday of the month, last Friday of the month etc.).

Support Ticket Module.

This new module adds personal support for Artists, Venues, and Companies (Subscription Account holders only) and allows all support requests to be logged.  When logged into the Musical1 Control Panel artists and members will see a 'Support Tickets' menu section.  Options are Open Ticket and View Tickets (view info and status of all their past tickets).

Additional code has also been added to the system core for the future development of up-and-coming Modules such as, Facebook Integration, and Club Guide (both undergoing Beta testing at present).I hope you enjoy the new features!Mick

In a few months time we will be upgrading the Musical1 system to Version 4 but before we do that we must make sure everything in the system works as it should.  All the 'In-house' or 'Alpha' testing has already been done and the new system has been picked over by a team of experts to ensure the whole thing works but, inevitably there will be some small bugs in the new code, making some things not work properly.  This is where BETA tesing comes in.  If you are already familiar with the Musical1 system amd know how to add blogs, upload music, photos or events details etc, then you can become a BETA tester and help us steer Musical1 version 4 in the right direction.

Beta testing will continue for about a month and anyone wishing to get involved should visit http://demo.musical1.com and sign up for an Artist and/or a Member account.  PLEASE NOTE: Your existing Username and Password for Musical1.com WILL NOT WORK on the new BETA site and contributers should Sign-Up for an Artist account on the BETA Site.
Feedback and bug reports should be posted to the Community Forum on either the BETA Site at http://demo.musical1.com/community/ or here on the main Musical1 Website Forum, or both if you feel inclined.

The BETA site is running some new features and has a handfull of Theme sets to play around with.  Testers should try uploading video, audio, and anything else that takes their fancy.  Test EVERYTHING!  That's the best way.

So, if you would like to see what Musical1.com will look like in a few months time go to http://demo.musical1.com and play around. Oh, and of course, please help BETA test Musical1 Version 4.

Over the next few days all the sites hosted on Musical1.com will be migrated to our new data centre in the USA.

The new data centre gives us the opportunity to utilize faster and more robust hardware solutions powered by Dual QUAD Core XEON 2.33Ghz processors with 16GB ram, so after the move there should be a noticable boost in the site response times, especially when uploading audio and video files.

It will take 24-48 hours for the domain and website to be migrated so please accept my advanced apology for the websites being unavailable during this time.

We expect the website migration disruption to be completed by the 30th June.

In a few days time I'll be sending out the 1st ever Musical1 Newsletter to all members where you can read all about the latest additions to the Musical1 System and keep up-to-date with developements.  If you prefer NOT to receive the new Newsletter, you should modify your account info to suit.
If any member should encounter a problem with any part of the musical1 websites please be kind enough to contact me via the community forum and let me know the details of the problem. I rely on feedback from members to help me understand what works for them, what doesn't, and what they would like to see added to the capability of the musical1 system.

I'm planning an upgrade of the Musical1 system over the next couple of nights to implement the new features within the sites. I'm aiming to begin upgrading between midnight of tuesday 20th May and 6a.m. on wed' 21st May, and complete the process between midnight wed' and 6a.m. on thursday the 22nd May, so all Members should avoid any alterations to their website during this time.
PLEASE NOTE: Upgrade Schedule will continue between midnight on Thusday 22nd and 6a.m. Friday. (Sorry about that)

This is a new facility which can be accessed via your admin control panel and it allows you to 'Invite a friend' to sign up for a free artist account on musical1.com

NEW - Promo Codes
This new facility allows those artists who are selling digital downloads from their website to create 'Promotional Codes' for their downloads.  This can be useful for special promotions such as '10% discount over the festive period' type promotions etc.
