In 2008 Michael Marra was asked by Jan Hannah at the Education Department at HMP Noranside in Angus to work with long term prisoners on a songwriting project. The guys worked for a year on the project and Michael has taken the songs to his studio and enlisted the The Zipped Baffy house band of Christopher Marra, Kevin Murray, Alice Marra and himself to produce the 11 songs that go to make up the Numbers album. Michael sings the majority of the songs himself but on a couple of tracks the songwriters themselves provide the vocals. The Noranside Songwriters Group should be justly proud of the work they produced. The album was CD of the Week on BBC Radio Scotland's Iain Anderson Show. These guys have great taste when it comes to songwriters!!Sadly due to bureaucratic reasons the CD cannot be produced for sale as yet but Musical1.com have kindly agreed to fund the numberscd domain name and sponsor this site thus enabling the songs to heard as streaming mp3's and reach the wider audience they deserve. To hear Full-Length versions of the songs you must be a member of the Musical1 community and logged into the site.Membership to Musical1 is free.
