Sad to report the sudden death of American songwriter and poet Gil Scott Heron.

A wonderful piece by Jamie Byng can be found in The Guardian

Thanks to their tie-up with YouTube STV are putting their archives online and some of the programmes had Michael Marra as a guest.

Aly Bain and Friends was first broadcast in 1987 and the series features a wonderful guest list and features some great music. Michael is in episode 3. If you never witnessed the playing of Peerie Wille Johnson you will pleased to know that Willie is featured extensively in the programmes with episode 5 being a my personal favourite.

The Ken Fine Show - a magazine style series presented by Jack Docherty, which celebrates the Scots language, dialects and Gaelic has Michael in all 12 programmes and they are also featured here in the archive -

Enjoy.

Look what's turned up on Youtube.

A younger Michael Marra singing Ned Miller's " From A Jack To A King". I remember the programme being on Grampian. Filmed at the Grand Ole Opry in Glasgow the programme also featured Rab Noakes and The Liberties with Alison Clark on vocals. Probably have the whole show somewhere in the old betamax archive. Great to see it again.

Many thanks to Hiram Hubbard for putting it up.
